4. Telekom Vivicittá Marathon

Spring in Budapest is not just about blooming flowers and outdoor cafés—it’s also the season for one of Hungary’s most popular running events: Telekom Vivicittá! Taking place on April 12-13, 2025, this two-day running festival attracts thousands of participants of all ages and fitness levels to celebrate health, community, and the beauty of Budapest.

First launched in 1986, Telekom Vivicittá has grown into Hungary’s largest mass running event, drawing both professional athletes and amateur runners from across the country and beyond. The event’s name, “Vivicittá,” means “Long Live the City” in Italian, emphasizing the love for urban life and outdoor activity. The Telekom Vivicittá races take runners through some of Budapest’s most iconic locations, including Margaret Island – A lush, green island in the middle of the Danube, the Parliament Building – One of Europe’s most stunning landmarks, Chain Bridge & Buda Castle views – Offering a breathtaking panorama of the city. The Telekom Vivicittá Half Marathon is a two-day event entirely dedicated to running and movement. On Sunday, you can choose between the half marathon (21 km) and the 10 km race, while on Saturday, shorter distances (such as the Midicittá 7 km) take center stage, catering to less experienced runners.

5. I Bike Budapest

Get ready to pedal through Budapest like never before! I Bike Budapest 2025, the city’s biggest cycling demonstration and festival, returns in April to promote sustainable urban transport and the joy of biking. Whether you’re a seasoned cyclist or just love the idea of a car-free Budapest, this event is for you!

The programme starts on Saturday, April 26, 2025, at 15:00 from Városháza Park. The organizers have designed a route that allows us to ride through the widest possible spaces, avoiding congestion and minimizing disruption to city traffic, while still making a strong statement. Our volunteer marshals will assist at busy intersections to ensure the smooth passage of public transport, cars, and pedestrians at crosswalks. The procession will take place on a police-secured, closed route.

ROUTE: Városháza Park – Kossuth Lajos Street – Erzsébet Bridge – Lánchíd Street – Clark Ádám Square – Tunnel – Attila Street – Erzsébet Bridge – Jane Haining Embankment – Széchenyi Square – József Attila Street – Andrássy Avenue – Heroes’ Square – Dózsa György Street – Népfürdő Street – Árpád Bridge – Margaret Island, Nagyrét.

The famous BIKE LIFTING EVENT is around 17:00, Margaret Island, Nagyrét, upon the arrival of the procession’s end.
