OFF-Biennále – Contemporary art exhibition

Image: xpatloop.com

📅 May 17 – June 6
OFF-Biennale Budapest 2025, Hungary’s largest independent contemporary art event, returns from May 8 to June 15, 2025, celebrating its fifth edition and 10th anniversary. Launched in 2014 as a grassroots initiative, the biennale was created to support the local independent art scene while encouraging public dialogue around some of the most urgent social, political, and environmental issues of our time.

The theme for 2025 is “Poems of Unrest”, a thought-provoking exploration of the concept of security—a basic human need that is increasingly used and distorted in political narratives. Through this lens, the biennale challenges artists and visitors alike to reflect on themes such as migration, the climate crisis, systemic inequality, and bodily autonomy.
This year’s edition promises to deliver powerful, relevant, and deeply resonant works that speak to the unrest of our times—and the poetry that can emerge from it.

📍 Városháza Park – 1052 Budapest, Károly krt.
