What does the word Táltos means – a journey to spiritual realms

In Hungarian folklore, a “Táltos” is a mythical and mystical figure with shamanic attributes. The term “Táltos” is often used to refer to a kind of supernatural person, a magician, or a shaman-like figure. These individuals were believed to possess unique and magical powers, often related to healing, communicating with the spirit world, and foreseeing the future. Táltos individuals were intermediaries between the human and spirit realms. Táltos figures were often described as having special abilities, such as the power to control the weather, speak to animals, and perform various forms of divination. They are sometimes associated with horses and are believed to have a deep connection with these animals. In Hungarian folklore, the Táltos is regarded with both fear and reverence, and their abilities are often sought for healing and protection from supernatural forces.
A vessel to a spiritual voyage
Knowing the meaning of the name of ship, it probably won’t surprise you that the inauguration ceremony of the vessel was held in the presence of 10, present days shamans at the docks on its first voyage. They prayed for longevity and prosperity for the ship with this revered title.
To truly live up to its namesake Táltos ship has hosted spiritual journeys of enlightenment as well, labelled as the Spiritual Boat cruise. This programme invites everyone to ride along the waves of love and spiritual joy. Complete with a handcraft market offering an abundance of minerals, musical instruments, and other accessories, during the 6 hours journey several presentations are held. Participants can bring your own musical instrument and be part of the ritual cleansing.
Spectacular shows on the river
Throughout the years the Táltos hosted a bevy of entertaining events and programmes. Full Cabaret shows complete with snack bars and a cool “gambling” game the Wine Casino, Live acting theatres, Standup comedy nights, Live piano concerts and Operetta shows. Even presently the Táltos proudly holds the title: Operetta ship.
On regular bases, the Táltos gives place to two spectacular programmes almost everyday of the year. The enchanting Dinner Piano cruise with live performance. Two piano players “duke it out” in our piano-duel, which is followed by a charming, mellow voiced vocalist to keep you entertained.
Our other programme pulsates with a lot of energy. A lively Folklore show including traditional dances, an operetta performance, and Hungarian folk music. This live music show offers one unforgettable night where enthusiastic participants can easily become part of the performance as well by joining in on the dance. The whole presentation is based on the traditional songs and dances and is the embodiment of the true Hungarian spirit. In addition, both programmes include either a delicious 3 or 6 course dinner, to complete the experience.
We’ve put together our dinner to satisfy the curiosity of those interested in Hungarian cuisine, the tastes of discerning consumers raised on local dishes, and the preferences of those who want to avoid traditional flavors, including vegetarian guests.

Our soup selection includes the already iconic Hungarian goulash soup, which can be an excellent opportunity for some nostalgia or to introduce it to our foreign guests. Among the choices for main courses, you’ll find the widest variety, offering fish or grilled cheese for those seeking a lighter dinner. But for meat lovers, we have good news as well – you can find dishes like stew and duck on the menu.
