Ice age is here in Budapest! This winter the Natural History Museum prepares a truly unique, family friendly exhibition for kind visitors.
The exhibition associated with the ice rink, showcasing the most spectacular extinct or endangered animal species from the last ice age, the Arctic, and the tundra, simultaneously offers an experience, knowledge, and entertainment for every member of the family, making the museum visit an attractive program for multiple generations. The Hungarian Natural History Museum’s important mission is to draw attention to the societal issue caused by global climate change threatening biodiversity, especially among the youngest generation, to create a more sustainable and liveable future.
To complete the experience and guarantee the fun for the whole family the exhibition also offers an ice rink for a 50-minute skating session. A truly winter programme choice for sure! For the use of the ice rink, advance booking is not mandatory; registration can be done on-site at the information desk. It’s time to take out your lightsabres and blasters! Dive into a truly exciting event. The first Galaxy Festival is soon to take place, where you can find lots of interesting things and loot from every corner of the galaxy! At the event, numerous stands await you, where you can purchase genuine Jawa parts or acquire the latest droid models. And if you’d like a more intergalactic experience, head to the Fett Brothers’ stand, where you can inspect the famous Mandalorian weapons. It’s worth being cautious around the bounty hunters and members of the Hutt clan, so as not to provoke them!

The Year of the Dragon Lantern Festival leads into a colourful and magical world, welcoming visitors with the fantasy of light and shadow from December 16, 2023, on Saturdays for 70 days. Following the light of hundreds of lanterns in the Biodome garden and building on Ăllatkerti Boulevard, you can step into the wonderfully colourful, visually stunning world of the Year of the Dragon, capturing the beauty of animals between 17:00 and 21:00.
2024 is the Year of the Dragon according to the Chinese calendar, so the central element of the festival is closely connected to the Chinese New Year, in the hope that the new year will bring luck, peace, and happiness to everyone. Next month we are going to cover this event a little bit in more details in our article. The Year of the Dragon Lantern Festival invites not only enthusiasts of Chinese culture but also families and those who enjoy spectacular entertainment as a moonlit stroll. Mythical animals, playful pandas come to life in this magical experience.
